Ariè - Ensoniq DP4 TeleBrain

A sysex programmer for the 1993 Ensoniq DP/4 parallel effects processor, intended for use in Max for Live. It is built as a more readable interface and recall system for the DP4.

Now is possible to see and access every parameter, on floating windows. Make super fast adjustements and then save with the Ableton session. It is like working with 4 real DP4 plugins. Best of both worlds

It works on sysex, so super fast modulations will be possible by setting modulations sources and using midi CCs sends. The process of assigning modulations is now 100x faster as you can assign modulations sources in 1-click and then retrieve them in algorithms editing

The device will be updated as improvements ideas show themselves. If something don’t work please contact me, I’ll try to be the fastest as possible.

How To Install : 

1. Put the folder in Ableton/User Library/Presets/MIDI Effects/Max MIDI Effects
2. Mac : Put the DP4 Telebrain externals folder in  Documents/ Max8/ Packages or any folder where Max looks for externalsPC : Unzip and put the content of "DP4 Telebrain externals for Windows64" in  Documents/ Max8/ Packages or any folder where Max looks for externals
   

DP4 Setup : 

1. Midi Control Channel : in System/35. Control ChanSet it to the channel you'll emit in Ableton

2. Sysex ID : in System/50.MIDI Sysex ID Set ID to 01 . The plugin currently only work for "ID 01".

3. Sysex Reception : in System/51. Sysex Reception, set to "Enabled"

How to use:

1. In Ableton Live, create a new MIDI track
2. Add "Ariè - DP4 TeleBrain fontbase" to this track
3. Select your MIDI interface as MIDI output for this track
4. Enjoy access to every algorithms on every processor, and recallability with your session !

How to recall from an Ableton session : 

• 1. click "Algos Load" : recheck that every processor as the intended algorithm. Wait a little that everything is checked
• 2. click "Total Recall" : recall every algorithm parameters value and modulations sources .

Notes : 

• Please use a general preset that can be overwritten : to change algorithms you have to « write » them
• Dont forget to « confirm algorithms » when you want to change it ! 
• Parameters won’t respond during 8 secs, it is a protection for you to avoid overload the sysex commands system just after you change algorithms
• Some security measures have been taken to avoid that the DP4 receive too much informations too fast. If you want to try a more dangerous/potentially faster version, just email me ;)

Technical:

- This software does not make any sound itself, but rather acts as a programmer for a piece of external hardware via MIDI. Without the DP/4 unit, this software is of no use to you.

- This was written in Max 8.2.1 and Live 11.1.1 on Mac, and as of release has not been well tested on any other systems. I cannot guarantee it will work in any older versions of Max, or Live. We had some users reporting it works on Windows 64 with the windows externals.

- This will sadly not work with Ensoniq DP2 or DP4+.
