The goal · This Korg Polyphonic Ensemble P sample library was recorded for luxury and presence.
Geek stuff · The Korg Polyphonic Ensemble P (or PE-1000) was one of KORG's first polyphonic instruments. It is one of a very few paraphonic (or polyphonic) synths from the 1970s which has a seperate oscillator per key, if not the only one, which makes it sound richer since detuning between octaves is possible (that's what the Pitch Expand knob does).
Where did I hear it · It has been used by Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre and Sebastien Tellier .
How it was recorded · with time, heart-over-ears and the best gear !
Korg PolyEnsemble -> preamp UA6176 -> original Pultec EQP-1A -> ReVox B77 MKII -> EAR 660 (just for the glow)!
The principles :
- Sugar free : No cheap built-in effect added, just the highest quality ingredient for you to cook with your own taste
- Not quantity, QUALITY : each sound needs to be useable, not another Go on your hard-drive. I included only the really beautiful presets of the KORG PE, each one with its own best settings of EQ/tape/compression
- Culturally relevant : this library try to extend the natural nostalgic evocativeness of the KORG PE
